On a fall night in New York City, Jasmine Dreame Wagner, Sondra Sun-Odeon, and Charlie Rauh came together to perform "Rings," a multidisciplinary sound-music-poetry performance based on Wagner's poetry collection of the same title, at The St. Marks Poetry Project. After the performance, the three artists made plans to convene again to capture the original impulse of the collaboration and to further explore the divergent forms, rhythms, and palettes available to them. “After the Airforce” is a powerful first-time collaboration between the three friends. Using Wagner’s long poem as both script and score, Sun-Odeon and Rauh weave a fluid improvisation of melody and rhythm through Wagner’s narration. The short film featuring their recording melds Wagner’s moving images with her poetry as Sun-Odeon and Rauh's haunting soundtrack darkens and grows sweet.
